Calma – the closest thing to breastfeeding
Medela’s Calma solution is a breastfeeding alternative for mothers who want their babies to be fed their own milk. It was developed in collaboration with breastfeeding experts from the Hartmann Human Lactation Research team at the University of Western Australia (UWA).
Unlike other teats, Calma’s nipples are size-neutral and work well regardless of the baby’s age.
Just like when breastfeeding, your baby can:
- suck, pause and breathe in a natural rhythm
- create their own vacuum with jaw and tongue movements
- maintain a natural sucking rhythm that supports the transition from breast to Calma and back to the breast.
